Hello Everyone. Well, like I had written a little while back, Jose is back in full training mode so that he can try to qualify for the Boston Marathon through his next marathon, which is the Long Beach Marathon in October. A few days ago Jose complained of pain in his calf and each time he would come home from a run I could tell he was limping a bit. Hurt honey? Oh, no...it will go away...just some soreness....yeah right!! On an 8 mile run, he felt a pop at mile 3 and was struggling to complete his run. I was worried that he had torn something so he made an appointment with the doctor for the next day. Fortunately, he just pulled his muscle, but he was instructed NOT to run for at least a week. Oh boy, the next few days were brutal. I could tell Jose was not a happy camper. He missed doing his daily runs. I guess he is so used to it now, that he feels he needs this exercise every day. He has still been able to continue his swim training every day and since it has been almost a week of rest for running, he has slowly started working out on the treadmill. I hope with enough rest he will be able to pick up where he left off a week ago. October is quickly approaching and he cannot afford to miss much more of his training. I might look into a Sports Massage Therapist and see if something like that would benefit him once a week while he is continuing to train for this upcoming race. We'll let you know what happens. I am sure he will be back in no time. I just hope IN time for the next marathon. Keeping my fingers crossed. :0)
