Saturday was our first day in Boston and we settled into our place and got some sleep after basically skipping a night. Later on in the afternoon we went to the Expo, which was HUGE!! We picked up Jose's bib number, shirt etc and I was so proud. I must admit I shed a quick tear while watching him get his things. I couldn't believe we were actually here and he was going to run Boston. I was so proud!! This was a big moment for him. And for me as his #1 supporter.
Sunday were the Olympic Trials for the Women in Boston and Jose went to go check it out. I ended up staying in the apartment with the kids. They both had colds and I had to give Joey some breathing treatments. I wanted to him to be all better for the Marathon on Monday. I was bummed out I couldn't go see it, but I was able to follow it on TV. The Olympic Trials were amazing and you can watch a video of it below my postings. At one point Jose called me from the Expo because he was going to get another balloon for the kids. He said: "Guess, who I am looking at right now? When he said he was looking straight at Dick and Rick Hoyt I was so envious. You're kidding? Wow!! Before I knew it he had handed the phone to Dick Hoyt and asked if he could say a few words to me. "Of Course" he said....Well, all I can say is: I was so honored to get a chance to tell Dick Hoyt how wonderful I think he is and what an inspiration he has been and is to us. I told Jose to make sure to get a photo with him. Jose later came back to our place and later in the afternoon we decided Joey was doing well enough to go for another walk around the city. We ended up back at the Expo to see if Dick & Rick Hoyt were still there. I wanted to see them for myself!! Well, we were in luck. Dick was still there, although Rick had gone out for lunch so I didn't get to meet him unfortunately. He was great and we took a family photo with him. I look terrible in it, but you get the idea. :0)
